ABOUT THE EVENT: WHAT SKILLS WILL YOU LEARN?

Most organisations rely on a way of working designed over 100 years ago for the challenges and opportunities of the industrial age. In these antiquated systems, both leaders and employees are becoming disillusioned, disconnected, and disengaged from their work. Yet, there exciting alternatives emerging that encourage adaptable, sustainable, and democratized workplaces. Nathan Evans will describe a practical guide to running a responsive/future/Teal organisation, which modernizes the traditional workplace by reconsidering many business practices we take for granted.

He will share his experience having gone through an organisational paradigm shift by exposing the challenges he’s faced with his team, the lessons learned, and the tools they use to confidently navigate uncharted waters. This includes ideas, cultural rituals and digital tools that any company can use to constantly evolve and adapt to the unpredictable environments of the future.

ABOUT THE SKILLSHARE HOST: NATHANIEL EVANS

Nathaniel Evans is a musician, neuroscientist, computer scientist, entrepreneur and a mixed-media artist who is involved in many diverse projects. He earned a Bachelors and Masters degrees in Computer Science, with work concentrated on artificial intelligence and neuroengineering. He finished a PhD in Cognitive Neuroscience, where he studied the brain when it fuses with new technologies that transform neural activity into actions without having to pass through our bodies (brain-computer interfaces).

After years spent in the academy, he took a sharp left and pursued a music career, producing music in his studio and touring as a musician and DJ. He created and exposed several art/science projects and led the experimental art-science program at the Agalma Foundation.

About a year ago, he joined the team at Nothing, a Bern-based design and creative agency. In this progressive organisation, he was introduced to several mind-blowing concepts around organisational design. He became obsessed by the potential to democratize the workplace and re-instill motivation, pride, and trust at work. He now helps lead a small startup Peerdom, which provides a digital toolkit that helps future organisations collaborate.
